Motivational Moments Newsletter # 15

This has been a very traumatic week for our Nation. We are a large nation, yet most of us were impacted by the events of last Tuesday. We knew someone who lost a relative, a friend, a loved one in either New York or Washington . These events struck right at our heart, killing innocent fathers, mothers, and children. This tragedy affected all races, colors, and religions.

I would like to offer a prayer for our Nation, originally called the Athlete's Prayer (Danita Pagel, 1991) with changes to reflect the times we are facing as a Nation.

Prayer for America
Lord, please clear our head of all distractions,
and our heart of burdens we may bear,
so we as a Nation may perform at our very best,
knowing that you will always be there.

Please lift us up before the moment,
so through your eyes we may see,
and have a clearer understanding
as this crisis unfolds before our Nation.

With great courage we shall meet this challenge
as you would have us to,
but keep us humble and remind us,
that our strength comes from knowing you.

Then when all eyes are upon us,
at the end of this tremendous challenge that lies ahead,
I will turn my eyes to You O' Lord
and the glory of your name.

Amen

How can you help? There are several ways to assist in this tragedy.

First and foremost, the Red Cross needs blood. Americans have responded to this call in record numbers. However, local and regional blood supplies will need to be replenished. If you haven't given, and you are able to do so, please consider this.

Secondly, the American Red Cross and other disaster relief organizations are going to need our financial support.

America on Line (AOL) has set up a way of contributing to the cause. To date, Americans have pledged over 6 million dollars on AOL. American corporations have pledged over one hundred million dollars to aid with this effort. Is your company part of the effort?

Fly the flag, not just today, but throughout this crisis. Let the world know that we stand united.

Say a prayer for our way of life. We do have problems--we are not a perfect society. But, our way of life sure beats whatever is second.
