Motivational Moments Newsletter # 18

A young man asked God how long a million years was to Him. God replied, "A million years to me is just like a single second in your time." Then the young man asked God what a million dollars was to him. God replied, "A million dollars to me is just like a single penny to you." Then the young man got his courage up and asked, "God, could I have one of your pennies?"

God smiled and replied, "Certainly, just a second."

ARE YOU MOTIVATED?

  1. The motivated person sets goals- long and short range, tangible and intangible, written, time limits, visualized, and has a daily plan of action. "Goal setting is the strongest force in personal motivation." On the other hand, the unmotivated person has a meandering life, is task motivated, procedure motivated, and is motivated by comfortable methods, directed by what others think.
  2. The motivated person has a positive attitude, while the unmotivated person thinks negatively.
  3. The motivated person is a winner. He or she looks at their strengths and thinks of all the reasons things can be done. On the other hand, the unmotivated person is a loser. They look at their weaknesses and think of all the reasons things can't be done.
  4. The motivated person understands failure and moves ahead. He or she has a proper attitude towards mistakes, and understands, as Emerson said, "All our gains are from the fruit of venture." In contrast, the unmotivated person fears failure and holds back. They usually want a safe, known area where there is no risk and consequently, no growth.
  5. The motivated person controls his or her own destiny. They understand that they are where they are, and what they are, because this is where they really want to be. The unmotivated person blames based on luck.
  6. The motivated person is "for real" and they are totally honest. The unmotivated person is phony and is basically dishonest.
  7. The motivated person has a high self-image. The unmotivated person has a low self-image.
  8. The motivated person does lots of "possibility thinking", like great person "act"-little people "react". The unmotivated person reacts and thinks as he or she has been conditioned to think and react.
  9. The motivated person makes decisions and accepts the consequences. The unmotivated person is weak, wishy-washy, a procrastinator.
  10. The motivated person looks ahead and grows from the past. The unmotivated person looks back and relives past failures.

My question to you: Are you motivated? (Taken from Motivated or Unmotivated--Del Rogers)
