Where there is no vision, the people perish--Proverbs 29:18 "You gotta have a dream to make a dream come true." Goal: A dream you commit to. To get what you want you must have goals. The goal must be important to the person setting the goal. The goal should be realistic...it must be believable and achievable. Goals should never be harmful, illegal, unethical, or immoral. Why set a goal? 1. A goal provides specific direction. A road map to success. "If you don't know where you are going, you will probably wind up somewhere else." --David Campbell 2. A goal provides the individual with necessary motivation. "Motivation is the spark that lights the fire of knowledge and fuels the engine of accomplishment. It maximizes and maintains momentum. Motivation gets you "going", but habit gets you "there". Make motivation a habit and you will get there more quickly and have more fun in the process.” --Zig Ziglar 3. A goal keeps you focused on the task at hand. Focus means finish. Long Term Goal: It's what you are shooting for. It needs to be specific, not general. And, there needs to be a deadline. Intermediate Goal: The things you need to accomplish on a monthly basis in order reach your final goal. Short Term Goal: The things that you do on a daily/weekly basis to reach the intermediate goals. What do I have to do today in order to reach my goal? State your goal in positive terms! Write the goal down. It is a written contract to yourself. "Give me a stock clerk with a goal, and I will show you a man who will make history. Give me a man without a goal, and I will show you a stock clerk."--JC Penney A WINNER
